Facebook Page

Welcome to Apollo Bay Sailing Club.  We’re a friendly bunch and welcome new members value and guests. Membership is great value at just $120 for an adult and less for families and juniors. We sail from November til April every Saturday.  We’re always looking for new sailors/skippers and crew whether you have lots of experience or none at all.  The club has a couple of boats (ynglings) that members can use to sail. The typical fleet on a race day comprises a couple of dinghies (Lasers, fireball), half a dozen flying fifteens, a yngling or two and seven or eight keelboats from 28ft up to 40ft.

We race from Apollo Bay on Bass Strait which is sometime calm but often has big swells, tides and can get windy!

Most of the club communications between members – looking for crew, pictures etc. are now done via our facebook group – Apollo Bay Sailing Club.  This website is not therefore monitored regularly if at all – the club contact details are up to date though if you want to text us.

Here is the link/address for our facebook page. Just copy it into your browser.

2014-15 Sailing Program

The new sailing season starts next Saturday and we are looking for beginners and experienced sailors to join our friendly club.

We have a growing fleet ranging from solo dinghies through two-three person daysailers up to large keelboats.

There are lots of opportunities to get out on the bay for a sail whether you fancy yourself at the helm of one of the club Ynglings, crewing a flying fifteen or joining the teams sailing the larger yachts – or even just sitting on the deck with the wind in your hair enjoying the view! Once you get hooked the scope is huge – in the last 12 months members have sailed to Tassie, NSW, Queensland, New Zealand and Tahiti!

Sailing at Apollo Bay is very affordable (see attached membership form) and we race every Saturday at 1pm (race schedule attached too).

The clubhouse has just been extended to meet our growing needs (a big thankyou to Colac Otway Shire for contributing to the cost) and is now a great place to have a yarn after a sail.

To find out more call or email Tim (0418 529387) timcobb@optusnet.com.au or put a message on our facebook page. Or just come down to the clubhouse on a Saturday morning and say hello.

Life is good. Come Sailing! 

Last Saturday there was a buzz of activity at the club rooms. Thanks are in order to the many people that turned up for the working bee.

Too many to mention individually but your work was very much appreciated.

Cleaning up the rubber duck, repainting the clubhouse, building the new pergola – see picture, cleaning up the ynglings and making lunch!

What a great team effort – what a great club..

Well done.clubhouse
