The new season is well on its way and Apollo Bay Sailing Club needs your help! Since 1987 we have one of the best little Sailing Clubs around and our passionate membership have an unrivalled love of all things sailing. The Apollo Bay Sailing Club has evolved to become a familiar and valued part of the Apollo Bay Community.
You may have heard of our need for a Replacement Duty Boat Fund, which is run in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation to enable donations to be tax deductible. The Committee of Management believes club safety on the water is absolutely paramount and the replacement of our Duty Boat is long overdue. The committee must make a decision on the boat purchase by February 2018 to extend the capabilities of our current duty boat and improve on racing safety. The Apollo Bay Sailing Club is now formally seeking donations towards the new Duty Boat. All contributions of any amount would be greatly appreciated to provide a safe environment for everyone to sail.
But the project still needs help!
We are hoping to raise a total of $83,000 by February 2018, which will enable us to secure an order for a new duty boat so we can start the 2018/2019 season. Our Boat Selection Committee weighed up the various types of boats available against the clubs needs and priorities. The most important attributes during selection, were safety, ease of handling, robustness and value for money. Although the decision is not final, at this stage the Boat Selection Committee has chosen the New Zealand, alloy built Stabicraft 2050 as the stand out boat to suit our unique requirements.
If you have ever thought of supporting the Apollo Bay Sailing Club this is a great time to give!
