Tales 17th
February, 2007
Saturday has again left us sailors at a loss, we started
the day with the postponement signal displayed and
the brief moved to 13:00. Still the wind blew at 30
knots , the crew gathered and we waited .
Captain Col again postponed the brief, but in the
end the race was cancelled at 13:45 .
The crew of the Yngling then decided to clean their
boat ,and found the wind moderating so gave
the cleaning away and sailed off the mooring, out
of the harbour up towards the Wild Dog valley. The
forward hand (now known as finn ,because no one believed
her) spotted dolphins in front of the Cable
Station ,and as the Yngling went around them they
put on a show as good as any at Sea World in Queensland.
The girls then broke out the spinnaker and sailed
back to the harbour, where they learnt about
how friendly seals can be at the pier when pushing
the boat off the bottom, no wonder the boat is
named Sista Mermaid.
La Boheme also ventured out to sail and had such
a good time they decided they should copy the"
retrieve the cross day" so the mobile phone was
dropped over board and the skipper had to leap overboard
and fetch it from the bottom of the harbour , thus
earning the "Tool Of The Week" prize.
All boats and crews are invited to come to twilight
sailing every Wednesday till further notice , see
John Marriner for details .
