Tell Tales
Saturday 11th November, 2006

Saturday saw a light easterly wind blowing, which is referred to as pleasant sailing. We had a total of 8 boats out. The short course race was won by ‘Town Bike’ with father and son team John and Shayne Lindsey.
The main race was a colourful affair with the sun out for most of the day. With the conditions as light as they were, the keel boats tended to struggle a bit as was evident in their race times – ‘Interlude’ taking just over 2 hours to complete the race and ‘Tumbleweed’ 2 hours 16 minutes.
Jeffers Richardson was again skipper on the ‘505’ with Andrew Smith as crew, while Matt Armstrong and Gary Millar played games with Matt’s new Fireball. Peter Geekie again proved his versatility by sailing his Fireball single handed, a fair effort on his part.
It was good to see past member Lisa Deppeler join us at the club house after the race. Her sister, Mandy, recently competed in a keel boat race from Queenscliff to Stanley in Tasmania and back.
Laurie Shaw’s spuds were baked by Sue & Jenny and were devoured quickly by all at our usual ‘after sailing’ get together at the club house. Thanks Laurie, Sue & Jenny.
A reminder that next week we have our Crayfish Cup regatta. There will be 2 short course races starting at 1.00 pm. Briefing at 12.15. There will also be one race on Sunday commencing at 11.00 am. Briefing for that race will be 10.15 am.
The Sailing Club appreciates the sponsorship of Leo Di Cecco for the Pre-Xmas series which is presently running, and Rex & Mandy Brown for the Club Championship which runs throughout the season.
LIFE IS GOOD, BE HAPPY, COME SAILING
