Tell Tales

16th December, 2006
Light winds had competitors grumbling before taking to the water on Saturday December 16th. Seems that this season it has been either too windy to race, or so little wind it hardly seemed worth it. But under beautiful clear blue skies with 5 or so knots of south easterly wind a fleet of 7 jostled for position at the start with the 2 Flying Fifteens appearing to be pushed across the start line by one of the keel boats. Windswept restarted and then Town Bike tracked wide for so long they ended up straight back at the wharf. Must have been worried that gale force winds were coming or something!

Not Your Average White Boat put in a solid performance to take line honours, Windswept quickly caught up lost ground while Russell & Peter showed the advantage of age and experience by challenging for a place ahead of the Yngling skippered by Matt and an all-girl crew.

There was plenty of interest in the closely fought tussle between the 2 keel boats, Interlude (John Marriner) and Tumbleweed (Bill Gross), who sailed tack for tack throughout the afternoon to have a race within a race.

Also there are plans afoot for a New Years Eve bbq – see Sandra for details.
