Tell Tales 4th February 2006
The day started of with the resumption of the learn to sail program, and what a lovely day was provided. Matt and Peter had our intrepid sailors out side the harbour as soon as the boats were rigged. What a great sight it provided along with the annual surf club swim that was on at the same time.
Every body was a little rusty, in particular Russell Smith and Matt who had trouble rigging a mirror and a 125.

The afternoon races consisted of a short course race first, which was just a windward return . The main race got underway at 2.15 in a light southerly wind . 10 boats sailing made an impressive sight , Matt and Gary continued their duel with Pete and Stewie, the two boats being very close together for the whole day.

Also close together all day were ”Windswept” (Ian and Leo ), and “Miss Molly” (Captain Col and Doug). Miss Molly was in front all day only to be pipped at the post by Windswept in the last few metres of the race.

Creditable efforts by “Hell n high water” and also Craig and Wendy Jenner in their 420, along with the boys on the big cat. Keep up the good work boys it will come together soon enough.

We had a visiting boat and several members from Colac Yacht Club -no water in the lake there, so their season has finished.

Sad to see Interlude come in unable to finish with a sick crewman on board. Peter Deppeler in Jubilation took the honours in the keel boats.

It was a rather pleasant day with all boats finishing other than John Marriner and crew
