This season is fast becoming known as the season of
“toos”. Too little wind, too much wind,
too rough and therefore too little sailing. So having
gone from dead calm at 10am to gusts of 30knots at
1:00pm, with large shifts in wind direction, last
Saturday was spent talking in the Club House rather
than sailing.
Following is report on the last day we actually got
to sail:
“Because of the festive season commitments a
reduced fleet took to the water on Saturday 23rd December
for the final race before Xmas.
It was a perfect day for sailing with a steady southwester
blowing 10-15 knots. Although Zappa with
the Fitzgerald boys on board was left behind at the
start they were soon in contention against Miss
Molly sailed by Colin & Russell. As the race
progressed Miss Molly pulled away, but the surprise
was Tumbleweed giving them both a run for
their money.
IKerry Marriner and Bruce Thomas in the Yngling
were matching it closely against Kerry’s father’s
boat Interlude.
While Miss Molly was first across the line,
Bill Gross sailed an excellent race and was only minutes
behind.
Zappa led Interlude home followed
by the Yngling.”
This week we have a sail to Marengo (weather permitting
– is that “too much” to expect!)
There will be barbeque at the Sailing Club after sailing.
If anyone can bring a salad it would be appreciated
.
