About

An independent guide to the Great Ocean Road

No paid placements, no commercial bias — just everything we've learned about every stop, town, walk and detour along the road.

What this site is

Great Ocean Road Guide is the independent travel editorial for Australia's most spectacular coastal drive — 243 kilometres of cliffs, rainforest, surf beaches and limestone stacks running from Torquay to Allansford. We cover every named attraction, every coastal town, every multi-day itinerary, and the full 110 km Great Ocean Walk thru-hike.

Editorial principles

  • Independence. No paid listings, no sponsored content, no affiliate links.
  • Accuracy. Every page is fact-checked against the original operator (Parks Victoria, official tourism boards, individual businesses) before publication. We update annually for season-sensitive details.
  • Practical. We answer the questions actual travellers ask — direction, parking, opening hours, dog policies, accessibility — not generic copy.
  • Readable. Plain English, no padding. If you'd skip it on a road trip blog, we don't write it.

How the site is organised

Pages cluster by topic: attractions for the iconic stops, towns for the ten coastal villages, itineraries for sequenced road-trip plans, wildlife for koalas/whales/waterfalls, and plan for practical questions like duration, season and pet-friendliness. The Great Ocean Walk has its own modular guide with an interactive map.
