Princetown beaches

Princetown's wild coast

Wide remote stretches of exposed Shipwreck Coast sand, the Gellibrand River mouth wetland, and walk-only access โ€” for walkers and photographers, not swimmers.

The reality

Wild and exposed, not for swimming

Princetown's coast is exposed Shipwreck Coast โ€” the same wild geography that produces the dramatic Twelve Apostles 10 km east. Strong currents, unpredictable swell, and rocky shorelines make swimming generally unsafe. What this coast offers instead: walking, photography, birdwatching, and the rare experience of sustained solitude on a wide remote beach.

For swimming, drive 12 minutes west to Port Campbell's protected harbour beach. For everything else โ€” Princetown's coast genuinely delivers.
